ur basic philosophy is the spirit of hospitality. It traces back to the Old Testament in the West and, in Japan, it is symbolized in the tea ceremony culture, which characterizes the curricula of our university. While the 21st century has been tainted with an unfortunate color, we must remind ourselves of 'hospitality' as the most valuable human characteristic. Based upon the traditional spirit of hospitality, the university prepares its students for the global age; all students will develop proficiency in English and information technology. Thus, they will be equipped with the two tools of global communication for their respective careers. In this small community in Kyushu, people from various parts of the world, including China, Korea, Mongolia, Taiwan,Tonga, and the United States, gather to study or teach. We will provide education and ON-SITE training which are designed to meet students' academic and cultural needs.

hat distinguishes universities from high schools is that students are treated as adults. They are expected to make their own decisions, make plans and take actions, and accept the consequences of their actions. With this understanding, our students will start a new life for learning. We expect them to learn the most valuable of all studies - way of thinking. In a new age, new human activities emerge in society. The training of professionals who will shed light on the new human activities is our duty and privilege. Tourism, social work, and nutrition management we chose are the studies of human activities, which benefit not only students but also people and communities, and bring joy to society. With pride, our students will pursue their learning and proceed to the field of their choice upon completion of studies.
We welcome you from all quarters of Japan and from all over the world to the Nagasaki International University.
